Quatronaut 2020
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
A blue circle stands alone in the void, polishing its laser-based weaponry, practicing highly skilled combat maneuvers, and waiting for the day someone once again enters quarters in the machine. The day when the shapes come back. The day when they will do everything in their power to end the blue circle.
Controls
Movement: wasd
Lasers: ijkl, arrow keys, or mouse
Triple A Features
- immersive sound effects
- a rockin' chiptunes track
- polygonal action with more than one shape
- it's sort of like Robotron but not
- surprise transition and advanced camera work that changes EVERYTHING
- it's technically possible to win. I did it once
- shipped ahead of schedule with lots of exciting glitches
- text-based level editor in config/levels.ron
Features that are definitely not bugs
- mouse firing is imprecise on hidpi displays (you can image it's a heavy turret you have to gently rotate into position)
- menu screen buttons glitch out often to add excitement
- once the screen rotates a bit, it stays that way until you finish the first few levels or close and re-open. This is done primarily for continuity

Install instructions
Click the quatronaut2020 binary/executable to start. It must be in the same directory as the uncompressed assets/ and config/ folders, which are included in the distribution.
If you use linux or have trouble with the binaries, see https://github.com/ericrasmussen/quatronaut2020 for options on manual installation.
macOS and Windows may try to deter you from installing the game because it is afraid that you will experience too much awesomeness, but all awesomeness levels are within tolerance limits. You can tell it to open a program from an unidentified developer to run the game, or view the github source link above to compile it yourself.
